Lesson 21

Skills for Mathematical Modeling

Lesson Narrative

In the associated Algebra 1 lesson, students are presented with bivariate data in tables and need to decide what type of model to use, create a model, and use the model to make predictions. This lesson gives students an opportunity to practice some discrete skills that are used in this work in a more scaffolded way (MP4).

Learning Goals

Teacher Facing

  • Model some given data with a function, and interpret the function, in a scaffolded way.

Student Facing

  • Let’s practice our skills for modeling with mathematics.
