Corrections to the Second Printing
Your book is from the second printing if it has K5_v1 and then a date, such as 20211203, at the very bottom of the copyright page. The first printing does not have a date below K5_v1. The second printing of these materials has the corrections to the first printing listed below already in place.

Unit 3, Lesson 21, Activity 1, Launch. In the last bullet, instead of "The first person to get 10 points wins." it should say "The person who gets more points wins."

Unit 3, Lesson 27, Activity 1, Launch. In the last bullet, instead of "The first player to get ten points wins." it should say "The person who gets more points wins."

Unit 3, Lesson 27, Activity 2, Narrative. Instead of "After learning this new stage of the How Close center,..." it should say "After learning this new stage of the Compare center,..." In Required Preparation, "Create a set of Compare Stage 2 Subtraction Cards for each group of 2." should be added.

Unit 4, Lesson 14, Activity 2, Advancing Student Thinking. In the second bullet, instead of "base-ten blocks" it should say "connecting cubes". 

Unit 6, Lesson 4, Activity 1 Narrative and Launch. In the narrative, the sentence "Students play until the first player reaches ten points." should be removed. In the last bullet of the launch, instead of "Continue playing until someone gets to ten points." it should say "The person who gets more points wins." 

Unit 6, Lesson 12, Activity 3, Required Prep. "Put each gameboard in a sheet protector." should be added. 

Centers, Number Race, Stage 3, Narrative. Add the following sentence to the end of the narrative, "If the sum is more than 10, students roll the cubes again."

Centers, How Close, Stages 1–3, Narrative. Any reference to playing until someone gets 10 points should be removed. 

Corrections to the First Printing

Unit 1, Lesson 1, Activity 1, Activity Narrative. This note was added: 10-frames are provided as a blackline master. Students will continue to use these throughout the year. Consider copying them on cardstock or laminating them and keeping them organized to be used repeatedly.

Unit 1, Lesson 2, Activity 1, Activity. Delete the first sentence (During the warm-up today we wrote some expressions to match dot images.).

Unit 1, Lesson 2, Activity 2, Activity Narrative. This note was added: Number Cards are provided as a blackline master. Students will continue to use these throughout the year. Consider copying them on cardstock or laminating them and keeping them organized to be used repeatedly.

Unit 1, Lesson 2, Activity 2. The student responses were edited to only include addends from 0–5. 

Unit 1, Lesson 5, Activity 1. In the student response for 3, instead of \(6 - 6\) it should say \(6-3\) and in the response for 8, instead of \(8 - 1\) it should say \(9 - 1\).

Unit 1, Lesson 8, Activity 1, Activity. Instead of "There are 17 shapes altogether." it should say "There are 12 shapes altogether."

Unit 1, Lesson 8, Activity 2, Student Responses, Response 2. Instead of "The second category has 5 shapes." it should say "The second category has 6 shapes." and instead of "There are 11 shapes all together." it should say "There are 12 shapes all together."

Unit 1, Lesson 14, Activity 2. In the student task statement, the image for Number Race was missing. Also, instead of Number Pair it should say Find the Pair. 

Units 2–4, Centers, Shake and Spill Stages 4 and 5. An incorrect recording sheet was included for these stages. The correct recording sheet is available online.

Unit 2, Lesson 3, Activity 2, Student Responses. Instead of "pencils" it should say "books".

Unit 2, Lesson 6, Warm-up. Instead of "Display the image." it should say "Display the statements."

Unit 2, Lesson 9, Activity 1, Problem 2. Instead of "Some of his pets are snakes." it should say "The rest of his pets are snakes."

Unit 2, Lesson 17, Activity 2, Student Responses. Instead of \(7 + \boxed2 = 9\) it should say \(7 + 2 = \boxed9\).

Unit 2, Lesson 19, Activity 1, Student Responses. In the second response to the third problem, instead of \(5+4=10\) it should say \(6+4=10\).

Unit 2, Lesson 20, Activity 2, Student Response. A box was added around the 9 in the equation.

Unit 3, Lesson 16, Activity 3, Student Responses. In the If you have time, instead of \(7 + 4 + 6\) it should say \(5 + 4 + 6\).

Unit 3, Section A, Practice Problems, Student Responses. Problem 11. Instead of 5 it should say 4.

Unit 5, Lesson 1, Warm-up, Activity Synthesis. Instead of \(35 + 4\) it should say \(35 + 4 = 39\) and instead of \(30 + 9\) it should say \(30 + 9 = 39\).

Unit 5, Lesson 3, Activity 1, Advancing Student Thinking. Instead of 87 it should say 86.

Unit 5, Lesson 10, Activity 1, Activity Synthesis. The last sentence has been deleted.

Unit 5, Lesson 14, Activity 1, Activity Synthesis. In the last bullet, instead of \(18 + 24 + 13 + 20=85\) it should say \(18 + 24 + 13 + 30=85\).

Unit 5, Lesson 14, Activity 2, Student Task Statement. Instead of "How can the boxes be packed so that they each hold 35 to 65 cans?" it should say "Find different ways they can pack the cans from 2 grades in a box together and have 35 to 65 cans in each box."

Unit 5, Section B, Practice Problem 4. The Student Response should say \(40 + 6 = 46\)\(46 + 3 = 49\)\(49 + 20 = 69\)\(69 + 10 = 79\).

Unit 6, Lesson 1, Activity 2, Activity Synthesis. Instead of “The ___ is taller than...”  it should say “The ___ is longer than...” 

Unit 6, Section A Practice Problem 8, Student Response. Changes were made so the responses explain what is farther, rather than closer to the classroom door. 

Unit 6, Lesson 5, Lesson Synthesis. Instead of pencil it should say rectangle.

Unit 7, Lesson 5, Lesson Narrative, Instead of "students identify defining and non-defining attributes of triangles. Students sort the triangle shape cards and think about how the triangles are the same and different." it should say "students analyze examples and non-examples of triangles and identify defining and non-defining attributes of triangles."

Unit 7, Lesson 16, Activity 2, Student Responses. There was an extra response that has been removed. 

Course Guide, Assessments Guidance, Formative Assessment Opportunities. This sentence was added about monitoring sheets: “Each section also has a monitoring sheet that can be used to indicate that students are meeting the section goals.” 

Course Guide, About These Materials. A note was added about frequently used blackline masters recommended for lamination, including a list of where to find these blackline masters in each grade.

Centers, How Close, Stage 1. In the student directions, instead of "Take 7 cards.” it should say "Take 5 cards.”

Centers, Number Puzzles: Addition and Subtraction, Stages 1–4. In stage narratives and student directions on the gameboards, instead of starting at 1 the cards used should start at 0. In Stage 3, in the first equation in Puzzle 2, instead of 48 it should be 47. In Stage 4, in the last equation in Puzzle 4, instead of 68 it should be 78. Updated blackline masters are available online.
