Corrections to the Second Printing
Your book is from the second printing if it has K5_v1 and then a date, such as 20211203, at the very bottom of the copyright page. The first printing does not have a date below K5_v1. The second printing of these materials has the corrections to the first printing listed below already in place.

Unit 1, Lesson 3, Activity 1. Launch. In the third bullet, instead of “Switch books...“ it should say “Switch recording sheets...”.

Unit 2, Lesson 4, Activity 1, Materials to Gather. Paper clips were added. Launch. instead of “the spinner,...” it should say “the spinner and a paper clip,...”

Unit 3, Lesson 15, Activity 1, Student Task Statement. In problem 2, instead of having 15 tick marks on the line, it should have 20 tick marks. 

Unit 4, Lesson 6, Activity 1, Launch. In the second bullet, instead of “and a gameboard.” it should say “a gameboard and the directions.”

Unit 4, End of Unit Assessment, Item 1. This item has been changed.

Unit 5, Lesson 11, Activity 2, Launch. Any reference to a spinner should be changed to number cards.

Unit 7, Section B Narrative. Instead of “...compose a hundred from 10 ones...” it should say “...compose a hundred from 10 tens...”.

Centers, How Close, Stages 1–3, Narrative. Any reference to playing until someone gets 10 points should be removed.

Unit 1, Lesson 1, Activity 2, Student Response 2. For the last expression, instead of \(10 + 0 \) it should say \(0 + 10\).

Unit 1, Lesson 6, Warm-up, Student Response. For the last expression in the third bullet, instead of \(35 + 5 = 10\) it should say \(35 + 5 = 40\).

Unit 1, Lesson 13, Activity 2, Launch. Instead of “There are 5 more bulldogs than huskies.” it should say “There are 6 more bulldogs than huskies.”

Unit 1, Lesson 17, Activity 1, Activity Narrative. This note was added: 10-frames are provided as a blackline master. Students will continue to use these throughout the year. Consider copying them on cardstock or laminating them and keeping them organized to be used repeatedly.

Unit 1, Lesson 17, Activity 1, Required Materials. Number Cards 0-10 should be removed.

Unit 1, Section C, Practice Problem 2. In the tape diagram and the question, instead of “yellow” it should say “green”.

Unit 1, Centers, Shake and Spill Stage 5. An incorrect recording sheet was included for this stage. The correct recording sheet is available online.

Unit 1, End-of-Unit Assessment, Problem 3. A repeated equation was removed. 

Unit 2, Lesson 1, Warm-up, Activity Synthesis. In parenthesis, the letters have been changed to match the appropriate image in the activity.

Unit 2, Lesson 4, Activity 1, Capture Squares Stage 3 Gameboard. In the student directions, instead of “Take 2 cards. Find the difference.” it should say “Spin the spinner and take 1 number card. Find the sum.” An updated blackline master is available online. 

Unit 2, Lesson 6, Activity 1, Problem 2. In the last line of Tyler's work, instead of \(70 + 3 = 72\) it should say \(70 + 3 = 73\).

Unit 2, Lesson 6, Activity 2, Target Numbers Stage 4 Recording Sheet. An incorrect recording sheet was included. An updated blackline master is available online. 

Unit 2, Lesson 9, Cool down, Student Response. Instead of \(90 - 20 = 70\) it should say \(95 - 20 = 75\).

Unit 2, Lesson 10, Warm-up, Student Task Statement. In the base-ten diagram, instead of 10 ones there should be 6 ones in the original number.

Unit 2, Lesson 10, Activity 1, Target Numbers Stage 5 Recording Sheet. In the student directions, instead of “Roll 2 number cubes. For each cube, decide whether the number you rolled will represent tens or ones.” it should say “Roll 3 number cubes. Pick 1 number to represent the tens and 1 number to represent the ones. Subtract the number you chose.” An updated blackline master is available online. 

Unit 2, Lesson 12, Activity 2, Materials to Gather. Base-ten blocks were added.

Unit 2, Lesson 12, Activity 2. The Story Problem and Diagram Cards blackline master was not attached. It is available online in the lesson.

Unit 2, Lesson 14, Activity 2, Materials to Gather. Base-ten blocks were added.

Unit 2, Lesson 14, Cool-down, Student Response. In the first problem, instead of \(5 + 3 = 38\) it should say \(35 + 3 = 38\).

Unit 3, Lesson 5, Activity 1, Required Preparation. Instead of “komodo dragon: 80 cm” it should say “komodo dragon 180 cm” and instead of “adult cobra: 90 cm” it should say “adult cobra: 1 meter and 90 cm”.

Unit 3, Lesson 5, Activity 1, Student Responses. For response a, instead of 52 it should say 58.

Unit 3, Lesson 5, Activity 2, Student Responses. The responses for b and c should be switched.

Unit 3, Lesson 13, Activity 2. The last bullet of the launch that says “Continue playing until someone reaches 5 points.” should be deleted. 

Unit 3, Lesson 14, Warm-up, Student Responses. Instead of “I notice there are 13 Xs.” it should say “I notice there are 14 Xs”.

Unit 3, Lesson 15, Lesson Synthesis. Instead of “_____ said that the more pencils were 10 cm than other lengths. _____ said the longest pencil was 16 cm. Are they both correct?” it should say “Diego said that the most pencils were 10 cm long. Kiran said the longest pencil was 16 cm. Are they both correct?”

Unit 4, Lesson 6, Activity 1. Instead of sheet protectors, markers, and paper clips, the materials should be paper clips and centimeter cubes. A student directions sheet is now available online in the lesson. 

Unit 4, Lesson 9, Activity 1 Synthesis. Instead of “Both of these number lines show strategies for finding \(75 - 64 = {?}\)” it should say “Both of these number lines show strategies for finding \(75 - 68 = {?}\)

Unit 4, Lesson 10, Activity 1, Student Responses. In response 2, instead of “start at 45” it should say “start at 46”.

Unit 4, Lesson 15, Activity 1, Synthesis. Instead of 37: \(12 + 15\) it should say 27: \(12 + 15\).

Unit 5, Lesson 1, Activity 2, Activity Synthesis. Instead of “B, C, A” it should say “C, B, A”.

Unit 5, Lesson 4, Warm-up, Student Responses. In the third bullet instead of “8 ones” and it should say “7 ones”.

Unit 5, Lesson 4, Activity 1. In the activity synthesis, instead of 501 and 180 it should say 509 and 180.

Unit 7, Section A, Practice Problem 3. Instead of “Find the value of each sum.” it should say “Find the value of each sum or difference.”

Unit 7, Lesson 10, Warm-up, Student Responses. In the third bullet, instead of \(200 + 22 = 222\) it should say \(300 + 22 = 322\) and in the fourth bullet, instead of \(200 + 22 = 222\) it should say \(400 + 22 = 422\).

Unit 7, Lesson 10, Activity 1, Student Responses. In response 3, instead of “Then add 200 to 256. The sum is 456.” it should say “Then add 200 to 255. The sum is 455.”

Unit 7, Lesson 13, Activity 2, Student Responses. In response 3, instead of “1 hundred, 4 tens, and 7 ones” it should say “1 hundred, 8 tens, and 2 ones”.

Unit 7, Lesson 14, Cool down, Student Responses. In response 1b, instead of \(60-40 = 10\) it should say \(60 - 50 = 10\).

Unit 7, Lesson 16, Activity 1, Student Responses. In response 1b, instead of \(12 - 7 = 5\) it should say \(12 - 5 = 7\) and instead of \(400 + 30 + 5 = 435\) it should say \(400 + 30 + 7 = 437\).

Unit 7, Lesson 16, Activity 2, Materials Needed. Add "base-ten blocks".

Unit 7, Lesson 16, Cool down, Student Responses. In response 2a, instead of \(412+1+413\) it should say \(421 + 1 = 413\).

Unit 7, Lesson 18, Activity 2, Student Responses. Instead of \(298 + 312\) it should say \(298 + 312 = 610\).

Unit 7, Section C, Practice Problems, Problem 4 Response. Instead of 138 it should say 128.

Unit 8, Lesson 1, Activity 1, Required preparation. In the t-chart labels, instead of “one leftover” it should say “some leftovers”.

Unit 8, Lesson 8, Warm-up, Student Responses. For About right, instead of 13-20 it should say 13-30.

Unit 8, Lesson 10, Warm-up, Activity Synthesis. Instead of “How could we make this statement true...” it should say “How could we make the last statement true...”

Unit 8, Lesson 11, Warm-up, Activity Synthesis. Instead of “What do A, B, and D have in common?” it should say “What do B, C, and D have in common?”

Unit 9, Lesson 1, Activity 1, Student Responses. Instead of \(6 + 8 = 15\) it should say \(6 + 9 = 15\).

Unit 9, Lesson 3, Activity 1, Student Responses. For response 4, the response for a and c should be switched. 

Unit 9, Lesson 3, Activity 2. In the Student Task Statement instead of “longer” it should say “shorter”. In the Student Responses, responses 2 and 3 should be switched. In the Activity and the Activity Synthesis, instead of “Diego” it should say “Lin”.

Unit 9, Lesson 5, Activity 1, Student Response 1b. Instead of “2 hundreds + 1 ten + 14 ones.” it should say “3 hundreds + 1 ten + 14 ones.”

Unit 9, Lesson 6, Activity 2, Activity Synthesis. Instead of “Display cards B, C, and J.” it should say “Display cards C, H, and J.”

Unit 9, Lesson 6, Activity 2, Student Responses. The expressions for responses b, c, and d were incorrectly matched to the cards. Response b should say \(600 + 10 + 11\) response c should say \(300 + 40 + 15\) and response d should say \(700 + 40 + 1\).

Unit 9, Lesson 7, Activity 2, Student Responses. In response 3 instead of \(15 - 8\) it should say \(15 - 7\).

Unit 9, Lesson 8, Activity 1, Student Responses. For Round 2, instead of \(41 - 14 = \underline{36}\) it should say \(55 - 14 = \underline{41}\).

Unit 9, Lesson 11, Warm-up, Student Responses. The third and fourth responses are switched.

Unit 9, Lesson 11, Activity 2, Student Responses. In response 1, instead of \(97 - 61 = 36\) it should say \(96 - 61 = 36\).

Course Guide, Assessments Guidance, Formative Assessment Opportunities. This sentence was added about monitoring sheets: “Each section also has a monitoring sheet that can be used to indicate that students are meeting the section goals.” 

Course Guide, About These Materials. A note was added about frequently used blackline masters recommended for lamination, including a list of where to find these blackline masters in each grade.

Centers, How Close, Stage 1. In the student directions, instead of "Take 7 cards.” it should say "Take 5 cards.”

Centers, How Close, Stage 4. In the student directions, instead of "Take 10 cards.” it should say "Take 8 cards.”

Centers, Number Puzzles: Addition and Subtraction, Stages 1–4. In stage narratives and student directions on the gameboards, instead of starting at 1 the cards used should start at 0. In Stage 3, in the first equation in Puzzle 2, instead of 48 it should be 47. In Stage 4, in the last equation in Puzzle 4, instead of 68 it should be 78.
