Stage 2: Factors 1–5

Narrative

Students generate factors with a number cube and a spinner with the numbers 1–5. Students use a \(15 \times 15\) grid.

Stage 3: Factors 1–10

Narrative

Students generate factors with two spinners, one that shows 1–5 and one that shows 6–10. Students use a \(20 \times 20\) grid.

Stage 4: Whole Number and Fraction Factors

Narrative

Students generate factors with a number cube and a spinner with fractions with denominators of 3, 6, or 12. Students use a \(24 \times 24\) grid that represents 16 square units.

Stage 5: Fraction Factors

Narrative

Students generate factors with a number cube and a spinner with the numbers \(\frac{1}{2}\), \(\frac{1}{4}\), \(\frac {1}{5}\), \(\frac{1}{10}\), \(\frac{1}{20}\), and wild, where students can choose their own number. They find the products and fill a \(20 \times 20\) grid that represents 1 square unit.
